Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media also a speaker who is Canadian. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips featuring commentary and analysis of the depictions of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency explores how women are represented in popular culture. Aiming to break down the stereotypes that are associated with females in popular culture, she is a vocal advocate for issues relating to harassment targeted at women and other marginalized classes of people in the online space. Sarkeesian has a degree in political thought and social theory from York University. She is also an internationally acclaimed public speaking. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Fest and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was launched in the year 2009 by Sarkeesian. an undergraduate student at York University who had been interested in issues concerning gender and feminism for a long period of. An ambitious woman who wanted to launch a web-series that would examine the gender representation of video games, she was targeted by an online campaign. The attack did not deter her instead it only strengthened her resolve to be a feminist media critic. Sarkeesian has been awarded several awards for her contributions to feministism. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media critic. She is also the founder and director of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational organization that explores pop culture depictions of women.
