Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28 1967 as the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Julia Fiona Roberts is the 4th generation Roberts living in Atlanta. Her father was enthusiastic about theatre since a young age. He performed on his Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions in Atlanta. When he joined the Air Force In 1953, he starred in an air force production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, they got married and in 1956 their child Eric Anthony was born. Walter was a student at Tulane University at New Orleans In 1957, the city of Louisiana where the couple left the Air Force of the United States. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the family moved into Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the children's local Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies, which they funded themselves. In 1964, Betty Lou and Walter founded the Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted 6 years. In 1965, they welcomed two new children: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
